About Chalet Capieu La Vue ...
Situated right in the middle of the piste at Merdassier, La Vue has to be the ultimate in ski-in, ski-out properties! There's parking nearby, and on arrival and departure, the manager will transport your luggage across the slope by skidoo.
During the day, if you're not on the piste yourself, the Scandinavian hot tub on the sunny south-facing terrace is the perfect place to watch all the action and take in the stunning views of the mountains around you. But when the lifts close and everyone goes home, you've got the mountains and the star-lit skies all to yourself.
In the summer, once the snow has melted, La Vue enjoys the tranquility of the lush green pastures that surround it. This magical location might feel as if you are miles from the rest of the world, but in fact the shops, boulangerie and restaurants of Merdassier are just a minute away by car.
The property ...
This spacious but private apartment, one of four in the old farm that is Chalet Capieu, sleeps up to 10 people in four bedrooms.
From the front door you'll find yourself in a lobby with a ski store and laundry space. This leads to the main living room, where cosy sofas are clustered around the woodburning stove and television. There's also a door from here on to the large sunny terrace with the Scandinavian hot tub, from which you can admire the stunning view.
The kitchen and dining area are a few steps up. There's also a separate toilet and a family suite on this floor - a small room with bunk beds, a double bedroom and a shower room.
The first floor is reached by some unusual half-tread stairs (perhaps not ideal for very small children or those with limited mobility). These lead to a cosy second lounge, a shower room and separate toilet. There's also another family room here, with a double bed and a double platform bed (reached by a steep ladder) with a seating area and television underneath. This room is popular with teenagers as it's a great place to hang out away from the adults! The final bedroom is the spacious master bedroom, which has a double bed as well as a screened off bath and a sink.
The layout of the property makes it perfect for two families, who will each be able to find their own space but will also have plenty of room to get together for meals and to catch up on a fabulous day in this mountain paradise.
About the area ...
If you're all about the skiing, you won't get closer to the piste than this! La Vue is right on the slopes in Merdassier, Manigod - part of the Lake Annecy ski resorts. From here you can ski to La Clusaz or take the ski bus over to Le Grand Bornand. Your Aravis ski pass gives you access to 220km of slopes and 95 lifts, so there is always a new challenge.
Merdassier itself is a very family friendly resort, perfect for beginners and those ready to move on to more challenging slopes. There are also plenty of trails for cross-country skiers and snow-shoe walkers.
Non-skiers may be happy watching the action from the terrace of Capieu La Vue, or there is an amazing view over the snow park from the upstairs balcony. Alternatively, there's a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool nearby, as well as an ice skating rink and cinema, sledging, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
In the spring and summer, the view from Chalet Capieu La Vue is no less captivating, although a lot less busy! When you wake up in the morning, you can wander out on to the balcony and admire the lush green meadows that surround you, and the mountains just waiting to be explored.
There is an open air swimming pool in Merdassier, and go-karts can be hooked onto the short ski lift below the chalet if you fancy something a little more adrenalin fuelled! There are also two tennis courts not far from the chalet.
Walkers and mountain bikers will find plenty of trails from the door, or try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Merdassier. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness.
In the evening, sit out on the terrace, enjoy a barbecue or relax in the hot tub and watch for shooting stars over one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps.
The OVO Network Review
“In the middle of the slopes in the winter, the mountain pastures in summer!”
If you are looking for a very comfortable and cosy ski in/ski out apartment on the slopes, this property could be the one for you. There are four apartments in Chalet Capieu, La Vue is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment for 10, (max 8 adults) 200m2 of floor space over 2 floors. With half tread stairs between the two floors, La Vue is full of charm and feels much more like a large chalet. There are two lounges, one with a fabulous wood burning stove, an indoor ski store and laundry area, and two family bedroom areas. The first has a bunk room, then a double room, then a shower room. The other is one large bedroom with a conventional double bed, then a further double platform bed accessed by a steep ladder, with a seating area with TV below. This room is next door to a shower room and toilet.
In winter you can to ski the 500m down to the commercial centre of Merdassier. If your purchases fit in a back pack you can take the button lift back up! The night skiing is a huge bonus - ski until 9pm at weekends and school holidays! There is a Scandinavian hot tub on the wooden terrace adjoining the piste. There is a snow cannon just next to the terrace, be warned, sometimes the snow drifts across the terrace too!
There are many events organised by the local tourist office in and around Merdassier, winter and summer. In the summer you can hire bikes, walk, play tennis and swim, all within 10 minutes of the chalet. The open air pool has a lifeguard, swimming lessons can be organised. The button lift transforms in summertime to become a Devil Kart lift!
The apartment is ideal for a couple of families or a group of friends who enjoy stunning high Alpine scenery and fresh air! There are other apartments in the chalet, it is sometimes possible to hear your neighbours.

The whole place gives off a feeling of love
We discovered La Vue in 2006, after it had been lovingly restored by our neighbor and now close family friend. We immediately fell in love with the apartment and decided at our first viewing that it would become our home in the mountains.
The whole place gives off a feeling of love as the time and devotion that our neighbour spent on restoring La Vue is clearly evident. Every carving was created to please his wife and son and we are now honored to own this wonderful retreat.
La Vue is the perfect place to enjoy all that the Aravis area has to offer. It is a truly ski-in ski-out property, with easy skiable access to all of the Manigod area, as well as all of La Clusaz. It is within walking distance of ski hire shops, the ski school, food shops, bars and restaurants and is under 15 minutes drive to the centre of La Clusaz. The views from La Vue are truly spectacular and the area really does have something for everyone.
From families to expert skiers, the winter sport is exceptional and during the summer the whole area becomes a haven of tranquility, but with plenty to entertain even the most active adventurer!
Please enjoy La Vue as your home in the mountains and have an exceptional stay!

“A very lovely week”
What a wonderful week in this pretty chalet on the pistes! Although we would have liked a few more lights and some more crockery, we loved the location, the welcome and the view.

“Very spacious accommodation in an exceptional setting!”
The Norwegian hot tub was a real pleasure after skiing. Arriving by snowmobile is just as lovely!

“We love Manigod !”
The chalet was very spacious and warm with plenty of different areas to relax, socialise, read, play games etc. The hot tub was used every night. Location in the middle of the piste made dropping back in for lunch easy and tobogganing in the evenings great fun. We were all adults - parents, older teenage children and friends, but i'm sure the property would work well with younger families as well.

“We loved our stay in this home”
The chalet is truly wonderful, Nico the manager is super and we loved our stay in this home. The wifi didn't work but we were actually happy about that as it did mean that the teenagers conversed rather than exist solo in cyberspace. It is a wonderful house and we had a very happy time. Thank you very much!

“A chalet combining charm and comfort for a great holiday!”
We came to ski and this domain was perfect, with La Clusaz so close. As for the chalet we loved the view! We also liked the comfort and the charm of this ancient farm. We rented the Barn apartment, which was perfect for our group. The bedrooms with bathrooms meant we were able to accommodate our friends with their babies.

“We had a marvellous week”
The chalet is superb, the view of the peaks of Etale and Merdassier is majestic. The sunsets and the colours on the mountains are priceless - a real corner of paradise. On the practical side, the chalet is super, the bed linen is the best, there are plenty of games and DVDs for children and a lovely living area. It must be magical to live in the chalet during the winter. We will be back very soon.

“Unforgettable ski holiday!”
Plenty of room for my little family (five adults and three children) and a great sense of feeling good. We will be back!

“A superb week with the family and friends. ”
The chalet is worthy of the name - the view is breathtaking and the quiet location offers peace and quiet which we loved. The interior layout is very sociable, the rustic yet comfortable furniture helps to make the chalet feel warm and traditional with a really lovely character.
Catherine B. - 13/02/2016
A magnificent chalet, perfectly situated in the middle of the piste! We had a brilliant week despite the bad weather and there's only one thing we want - to come back! The chalet is very comfortable and practical, perfect for three families with children. The underfloor heating is lovely, perfect bedding, sheets and towels and with end-of-stay cleaning included. The nearby pistes and ski school, the beautiful scenery and the peaceful environment added to our enjoyment.

“I recommend this accommodation”
A superb chalet with every comfort and all the equipment you could need. We were a group of seven friends and there was plenty of space for everyone. We had a great week and I recommend this accommodation.

“A excellent holiday with friends and family.”
A superb chalet, ideally situated in the middle of the piste - what a treat! Such a shame that the sun didn't show up - that would have been the cherry on the cake. The welcome from Nicolas and his team of housekeepers was superb - what a nice guy!. A really lovely family-friendly station, ideal for children. We did have concerns about the OVO Network as we were not familiar with it but rest assured you can have every confidence in them. We will be back, god willing!
Aurélie D. - 02/01/2016
“We had a wonderful time”
From the moment we were greeted upon arrival to our departure, we had a wonderful time. The chalet is excellently located and is certainly ski in/ski out. It was very clean, comfortable, well decorated, and easily accommodates 8 adults. The caretaker of the property was very kind and more than willing to help to ensure we had a great stay as well. On comparison to other chalets in the area and others in Europe we thought the chalet was well priced. As for the facilities in the area, the bakery was excellent and ski hire easy! Would definitely like to visit again.

“I can't wait to return”
My greatest thanks for one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. I have become an absolute Manigod junky and can’t wait to return to the mountains . . . I can’t tell you how I adored the chalet and the slopes . . . thank you and thank you!
Francis R. - 21/03/2015
Wow. What an amazing chalet in a beautiful location. Couldn't wish for anything else from a chalet. Stunning views and beautiful patio to sit out on and watch the skiers go past. Supermarket, restaurants and bars all within walking distance as was the ski schools. Stunning - can we come back next year please?
Robert C. - 21/03/2015
“Beautiful chalet in a stunning location”
First time back on skis after too many years and couldn't have chosen a better location. The wood burner was a real asset to warm away the aches after a day on the slopes. Fantastic to step out of the back door and straight onto the piste. Spoilt now and need look no further than your chalet when booking our next skiing holiday.
Ellis H. - 14/03/2015
“A wonderful retreat”
We left on Saturday morning on the most beautiful day, blue skies and a small covering of fresh snow. It was hard to leave and we had such a lovely time. The chalet was a wonderful retreat and very comforting to know it was so close to the piste for easy retreats when needing a break. It could not be a better location.
Katie R. - 07/03/2015
“A truly wonderful chalet in a perfect location”
Situated between two pistes, this chalet really is ski in and ski out. The chalet is fully equipped with all that you could wish for. There is skiing for all levels with a variety of restaurants, bars and and shops all within walking distance. We have found the perfect chalet, and look forward to returning again next year. Your Manager Nicholas couldn't have been more helpful , and also doubled up as a ski guide for a day. Thank you very much.

“Ski to less than 5 metres from the front door!”
We recently stayed at Chalet La Vue in Manigod, and can only say Wow! We have stayed in lots of places that claim to be ‘ski in, ski out’ but nothing yet has compared to this. Situated directly between two blue runs, you can easily ski to less than 5 metres from the front door!
The chalet itself has wonderful views across the valley, and feels like a comfortable home, not a standard rental, with lots of space, and filled with personal touches, that make it a lovely place to collapse after a hard day on the slopes.
There are shops, (the supermarket is small, but stocks everything you need for self catering) bars and restaurants in the village which is 2 minutes by ski or a 10 minute walk.
Our party comprised of timid beginners to the absolutely fearless, the variety of slopes kept everybody happy.
We couldn’t fault La Vue and can’t wait to go back next year!!!

Set in one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys, the village of Manigod is a mountain secret that is a delight to discover. With its own ski area linking into the famed La Clusaz ski resort, Manigod offers fabulous skiing in winter and world class cycling in the summer.
Beautiful chalets are dotted around the mountains, restaurants range from local auberges to Michelin starred, and you can buy locally made pottery and cheeses fresh from the farm.
