Alpine weather and views that are stunning in spring, summer and autumn

The ski resort you'll love — even when the snow has melted

La Clusaz, just a stone’s throw away from Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix, is a hidden gem in the mountains. Traditional chalets are dotted in and around La Clusaz, making every view postcard perfect.

Visitors love coming to La Clusaz for the excellent winter skiing, with five peaks containing varied terrain and a connection to Le Grand Bornand ski resort for even more skiing on the Aravis ski pass. There's also tandem paragliding (taking off on skis!), plenty of cross-country skiing, ice skating, bowling, sledging, night skiing and lot of other family-friendly sports to enjoy during winter.

What many of our winter visitors don't know is that La Clusaz is just as busy in summer. Kids love the weekly activities on offer while parents can enjoy a multitude of holiday options from sports to relaxation — and always with gourmet dining options and breathtaking views of the French Alps.

Ten reasons to choose La Clusaz for your summer holiday

6. Maximise your holiday time

Transfer time from Geneva airport is under an hour, so you can save on travel time and enjoy more of the mountains. The scenery along the way is beautiful too.

7. Sports everyone can enjoy

Play golf or mini-golf, go horse riding, try the summer toboggan runs, slip down the waterslides, enjoy the gorgeous views from outdoor swimming pools, try your hand at archery, fly above La Clusaz in a hot air balloon, go ice skating, play tennis or visit the gym. We've written a bit more about some fo these, here.

8. Taste the countryside

Buy fresh produce from a farm, such as cheese, eggs and butter, or visit a restaurant to sample local dishes such as fondue, raclette and tartiflette. Finish off your meal with genepi — the local tipple made from herbs! Fine diners will find plenty of restaurants to choose from too, including some Michelin star restaurants.

9. Kids go free

La Clusaz and the surrounding villages offer a huge range of activities especially for kids over summer, and most of them are free. Typical activities include mini high ropes, mini bike trials, birds of prey exhibitions, trampolines, supervised trapeze trials and much more.

10. Escape the crowds

Why flock to the busy beaches in the south of France when you can enjoy secluded, sunny, warm days in the mountains or head to the relaxed beaches of Lake Annecy, Europe's cleanest lake?

Experience even more in La Clusaz — from cheese to sports to relaxation

La Clusaz has been a farming village much longer than a ski resort, and is one of the few places where Reblochon cheese — famed for making tartiflette so delicious — can be made. But don't forget to sample the other excellent cheeses made here, including Tomme de Savoie, Chevrotin, Tomme Blanche and Emmental and fresh goats cheeses.

Popular with French families, La Clusaz has activities for every age group. Kids are of course spoilt for choice, and adults aren't forgotten either. Thrill-seeking adults and kids can choose from mountain biking, paragliding, via ferrata and climbing within La Clusaz, plus the nearby Bun-J Ride bungee jump, high ropes, canyoning, diving, road biking, and more. Those after a slower pace of sports can enjoy golf, mountain hikes to refuges, flora and fauna walks, swimming in the outdoor swimming pool and yoga.

For those seeking serenity, take your pick of massages, saunas and jacuzzis. If you book a chalet with a pool, you can enjoy the views poolside from your chalet nestled between trees out of town, listening to the sounds and scents of the mountains.

The fresh and clean alpine air is unbeatable, and after a stay in La Clusaz, you’ll feel healthy and rested no matter what you get up to!
